MBBS Admission in Telangana under NRI Quota 2025-26

Introduction

MBBS Admission in Telangana under the NRI Quota presents a golden opportunity for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) to pursue medical education in one of India's most dynamic and rapidly developing healthcare destinations.

With its top-tier private medical colleges, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and exclusive NRI seats, Telangana has emerged as a good choice for aspiring doctors from around the globe. The NRI quota offers a more accessible route to MBBS admission, with relaxed eligibility norms compared to the general category, making it an ideal option for international students looking to study medicine in India.

What sets Telangana apart is its ample availability of NRI seats in both government and private medical colleges. Many NRI students are drawn to India’s medical education system not only because of its strong academic foundation but also due to its cost-effectiveness when compared to studying in countries like the USA or UK.

Type of College Offering NRI Seats in Telangana

In Telangana, NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota seats are primarily offered by private medical colleges. These institutions reserve a specific number of seats for NRI students or children of NRIs, allowing them admission based on separate eligibility criteria and fee structures.

All these colleges are recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and follow the guidelines laid down by the state counseling authority. This provision enables qualified international candidates to pursue MBBS and other medical courses in Telangana without competing through the general merit quota.

How can I get admission in MBBS through NRI Quota?

For occupying NRI Seat in Telangana, the essential steps to be followed are:-

Step 1 – Clear NEET UG Exam 2025

First things first, you must appear for the NEET UG 2025 examination and achieve a qualifying score. Clearing NEET is mandatory for everyone, including students applying under the NRI quota. Remember, the higher your NEET score, the better your chances of getting into a reputed medical college!

Step 2 – Register for State Counselling

Once NEET results are out, head over to the official Telangana counselling portal (like KNRUHS or the designated authority).
You’ll need to fill out the application form carefully — entering your personal details, NEET score, and uploading all the required documents.

Important: Make sure you select the NRI Quota option while registering to be considered for these seats.

Step 3 – Verification of Documents

After successful registration, you’ll be called for document verification.
This step is crucial — you’ll have to present original documents like your NEET scorecard, passport of the NRI sponsor, relationship proof, embassy certificate, and academic records.
Ensure all your documents are complete and correct, as any discrepancy can cause delays or even rejection.

Step 4 – Seat Allotment

Once your documents are verified, you move to the seat allotment stage.
Based on your NEET rank, the availability of seats, and your choices, the counselling authority will allot you a seat under the NRI quota.
If you get a seat, you’ll need to download your allotment letter and get ready for the next step!

Step 5 – Admission and Payment of Fees

The final step is reporting to the allotted college.
You must visit the college in person within the given timeframe, complete all the admission formalities, submit your original documents, and pay the tuition fees (which is generally higher under the NRI quota). Once this is done, congratulations you’re officially on your way to becoming a doctor!
