The Punjab NEET MBBS Counseling is a significant process that enables students to gain a better understanding of the available colleges and choose the best MBBS college in Punjab based on their preferences.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (BFUHS), is a body that conducts the counseling process for Medical & Dental programs in Punjab.

The counseling process for Medical & Dental programs in Punjab is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the NEET UG Examination conducted by NTA. It will cover 85% of the Government seats and 100% of the Private seats.

There are a total of 3 rounds under the counseling process that includes -

  • Round 1
  • Round 2
  • Mop up

All these three rounds are conducted online. If seats are vacant after mop up then a college round will be conducted, also known as the “Stray round”

There are 3 Government, 6 Private, and 1 AIIMS (to be filled through MCC) in Punjab. This offers 1285 State quota MBBS seats (Excluding 15% AIQ seats). Seat Allotment for AIIMS will be done through a centralized counseling process conducted by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).

To participate in the Punjab NEET MBBS counseling process, students have to qualify NEET exam and then register themselves by login to its official website.

The merit list displays the ranking of candidates according to their state and category, which will be used for admission into medical colleges in Punjab via the Punjab NEET Counseling 2023.

Get My University Analysis

Punjab has a variety of medical colleges ranging from highly acclaimed institutions like Dayanand Medical College and CMC Medical College to newer yet promising ones like Gian Sagar Medical College. These colleges offer excellent education standards, experienced faculty, and clinical exposure to students.

During the counseling process in Punjab, we have observed a trend where the cut-off marks are very high in the first round but drop significantly in the mop-up round. It is important for students to be vigilant and patient while monitoring the counseling process and cut-off trends in Punjab. Many students opt for higher-fee colleges in other states during the early stages of counseling, despite having a good chance of getting a seat in Punjab NEET UG Counseling.

In 2020, there were 8000 applicants for 1285 state quota medical seats in Punjab, which shows a very high level of competition. Close to 6 students competed for every one medical seat available in Punjab. The NEET cut-off marks for government colleges in Punjab in 2020 was 581, and according to our study, it is expected to be around 595 for the year 2021.
