Get My University Analysis

Kerala is an open State, where students from other State can also participate in the Kerala NEET UG counseling process. Major point to be focused are its fee structure for the Private Medical Colleges, which are into legal phase since couple of years, every year during the time of counseling it picks up the pace and gradually settle down.

In the most recent year 2019 and 2020 the discussion was on top of its peak about its fee structure, where the minimum fee was supposed to be 7.65 Lacs and maximum goes up to 20 Lacs per annum.

However when Get My University team enquired with students taken admission in 2019-20 and 2020-21 batches, we found that they are paying old fee structure of Rs 6.22 Lacs to 7.5 Lacs. Which means fee is yet to be fixed.

We would like to advise our Medical Aspirants to look into following points before considering Management quota seat in Private Medical Colleges of Kerala:

  1. There is an agreement pertaining to fee hike needs to be signed by every students at the time of admission that in case of fee revision they will have to pay revised fee. In this case if fee proposed by the college comes in force then it will create a huge financial burden on the parents.
  2. Fee to be paid for 5 years not 4.5 years. Calculate your budget accordingly.
  3. Although current fee is less but other charges like Hostel, Mess, Stationary, Miscellaneous charges are on the higher side. Which may fall around 2 – 2.5 Lacs altogether.
  4. Choice shuffling in round 2 is allowed based on the colleges filled in round 1, you are not allowed to add new college in round 2.

In Kerala NEET UG 2020 had seen decline in the demand among mid range ranked students, as they were apprehensive about fee hike, hence they decided to go ahead with alternative available options rather than taking risk of irrational fee revision.
