The Department of medical education is the sole body in Himachal Pradesh that conducts counseling for MBBS admission in Himachal colleges. There are 6 Govt/1 AIIMS & 1 Private medical college in Himachal Pradesh- which offer 763 M.B.B.S Seats. The Counseling process conducts in 3 rounds, the first 2 rounds are offline and the last round conducts in offline mode. The seat allotment for AIIMS is done through a centralized counseling process conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). Himachal Pradesh is an Open State, where students from other states can participate in the counseling for management quota seats in Private and NRI seats in Government. STEPS IN THE COUNSELING PROCESS Of HIMACHAL PRADESH: Eligibility criteria Only the candidates, who have qualified for the NEET UG 2023 will be eligible to apply for MBBS Admission in Himachal Pradesh, with a centralized counseling process. To be eligible for admission to medical courses in India, a candidate needs to fulfill certain criteria that demonstrate their academic, and medical capability. 2. IF there are any students whose parents have no ethnicity of Himachal Pradesh and if they are government servants or working within the state of Himachal Pradesh, then their kids are eligible under the following conditions : Additionally, the employee's child must have completed their 10+1 and 10+2 education from recognized schools or colleges located within the state and affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, HPBOSE, or equivalent boards and universities established by Indian law. Eligibility Condition For Management Quota : Entrance examination The candidate needs to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The NEET score is used for admission to MBBS Admission in Himachal Pradesh. Registration After the NEET results are declared, the candidate needs to register on the official website of the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Choice filling The candidate needs to select the colleges and courses in which they wish to take admission. The selection must be made based on the availability of seats, previous year's cut-off, and the candidate's NEET score. Seat allotment The seats are allotted based on the candidate's NEET score, choice of colleges and courses, and availability of seats. Meeting the MBBS admission requirements in Himachal Pradesh is sufficient to be considered for a seat allotment. Document verification The candidate needs to carry the original and photocopies of all the necessary documents for verification at the time of admission.
