Admission Process

Sri Venkateswara Medical College Tirupati

The admission process for MBBS courses in Andhra Pradesh is conducted by the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Vijayawada.

There are 12 Govt/1 AIIMS, 1 Deemed & 13 Private Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, which offer 5685 M.B.B.S Seats. Counseling will be done for both Govt. as well as Private. Whereas Deemed counseling will take place through MCC.

In the year 2022 state counseling body introduced a new seat-sharing formula, which created a lot of stress on the students from other states who were looking for getting a medical seat in Andhra Pradesh.

Till 2021 all the B category seats in Private Medical College were open for all \students but from 2022 onwards the new seat-sharing came into the picture, wherein 85% of seats of B category were made open for only State domiciled students, and the remaining 15% seats of B category made available for the students from any state, which causes more competition for other state students aspiring for a seat in Andhra Pradesh.

If you are falling in a score range of 300 - 350 and have a domicile of Andhra Pradesh then you have a high probability of getting a seat in medical college. On the other hand, if you don’t have a domicile in Andhra Pradesh you will have to score above 400 to secure a seat in medical college.

Most of the colleges in Andhra Pradesh are known for their best academics, clinical exposure and infrastructure. There are only a few institutions that need improvement in terms of education and infrastructure which shows how medical programs are being positioned in the State.

The state has a rich history of medical education and research, with several renowned medical institutions that have produced some of the most knowledgeable doctors.

If you are someone who is comfortable with a warm and tropical climate and enjoys the vibrant culture of the southern region of India, then Andhra Pradesh can offer you the perfect opportunity to pursue your medical education.
