Established in 1957, the Government Medical College is located in Kozhikode and is one of the oldest colleges for MBBS in the state. The college is funded and managed by the Government of Kerala. The college offers undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD/MS) programs in various medical specialties. The MBBS course has an intake capacity of approximately 250 students per year. The college also offers super-specialty courses like DM (Doctorate of Medicine) and MCh (Master of Chirurgiae). Having modern amenities and facilities, the has well-equipped laboratories, lecture halls, a library, an auditorium, hostels, and sports facilities.

The Process for MBBS Kerala Counseling includes a counseling process for 3182 MBBS and 2077 BDS seats that will be allotted in the government and private medical colleges in Kerala. 

The process of counseling for MBBS in Kerala is conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination Kerala. NEET counseling is usually conducted online through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) in three stages, including a mop-up round. 

Requirement of the admission process 

Eligibility Criteria: The student is required to clear or passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as mandatory subjects and must have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in combined of all subjects (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates). If a candidate is filling all the criteria then they are qualified for NEET-UG.

Application Process: The application process for MBBS admission in Kerala is done online. Candidates have to go to the official website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) and have to fill up the application form. The fee for the application forms for General category candidates is Rs. 1000 and for SC/ST candidates, it is Rs. 500.

Counseling Process: The counseling process for MBBS admission in Kerala is conducted online. Candidates who have qualified for NEET-UG and have applied for admission in Kerala will be called for counseling based on their rank in the NEET-UG exam. The counseling process will involve choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification.

Seat Reservation: Seat reservation is as per the Government of Kerala norms. 15% of the seats are reserved for the All India Quota (AIQ) and the remaining 15% of seats are filled through the state quota. Out of the state quota seats, 20% of seats are reserved for SC candidates, 15% for ST candidates, and 30% for SEBC candidates.

Fee Structure: The fee structure for MBBS admission in Kerala varies from college to college. However, the approximate fee for a government medical college is around Rs. 25,000 per annum, and for a private medical college, it ranges from Rs. 5-10 lakhs per annum.
