In order to serve as a role model for providing skilled, compassionate healthcare to the most vulnerable members of society, Dr. Somervelle Memorial CSI Medical College was established in 2002. 

The college is one of the oldest medical colleges of Kerala which got established along with Amala Medical College and Jubilee Mission Medical College. Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Hospital was one of the six medical colleges that were established in 2002 with National Medical Council (NMC) approval.

The leading college in Kerala, South Kerala Medical Mission, is in charge of managing Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Hospital & Medical College Karakonam, also known as DR SMCSI MCH Karakonam. 

The Dr. Somervell Memorial Mission Hospital is a facility that is affiliated with Dr. Somervell Medical College and is situated in the village of Karakona, on the southern edge of Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. SMCSI Medical College offers UG courses with a 5.5-year duration and 100 seats, as well as PG courses with a 3-year tenure. 

Prior to the college's founding, the Dr. Somervell Hospital in the village of Karaokan was treating a large number of patients due to which a lot of growth was seen in patient inflow over the period of time. And thus, more than 1000+ patients on an average basis are treated at the hospital.

The Dr. Somervell College located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is about 3 kilometers from the Dhanuvachapuram railway station on the line connecting Trivandrum Central and Nagercoil. Whereas Trivandrum International Airport, which is 33 kilometers from the campus and can be reached by via NH 66, is the closest airport. The stunning campus is situated on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border (Trivandrum-Kanyakumari)

Step 1 – Kerala UG NEET 2023 Registration

Step 3 – Uploading of Documents

Application Process: The application process for MBBS admission in Kerala is done online. Candidates have to go to the official website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) and have to fill up the application form. The fee for the application forms for General category candidates is Rs. 1000 and for SC/ST candidates, it is Rs. 500.

Counseling Process: The counseling process for MBBS admission in Kerala is conducted online. Candidates who have qualified for NEET-UG and have applied for admission in Kerala will be called for counseling based on their rank in the NEET-UG exam. The counseling process will involve choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification.

Seat Reservation: Seat reservation is as per the Government of Kerala norms. 15% of the seats are reserved for the All India Quota (AIQ) and the remaining 15% of seats are filled through the state quota. Out of the state quota seats, 20% of seats are reserved for SC candidates, 15% for ST candidates, and 30% for SEBC candidates.
