In order to serve as a role model for providing skilled, compassionate healthcare to the most vulnerable members of society, Dr. Somervelle Memorial CSI Medical College was established in 2002.
The college is one of the oldest medical colleges of Kerala which got established along with Amala Medical College and Jubilee Mission Medical College. Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Hospital was one of the six medical colleges that were established in 2002 with National Medical Council (NMC) approval.

NEET counseling is usually conducted online through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) in three stages, including a mop-up round.
