Named after Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (DRKGMC) aims to provide quality medical education and healthcare services to the region. The college was established in the year 2016 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and is hence a developing college. Affiliated with the HPU, and recognised by MCI, DRKGMC offers an undergraduate program, namely Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), with an annual intake capacity of 100 students. The MBBS program is of five and a half years duration, including one year of compulsory rotating internship.

Having spacious classes, labs and well-stocked libraries, the college has a well-equipped campus with modern facilities to facilitate quality education and training. Furthermore, Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College has a dedicated team of experienced and highly qualified faculty members who strive to impart comprehensive medical education to students. 

The college is attached to Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College Hospital, which serves as a teaching hospital for the practical training of the students. The hospital is equipped with advanced medical facilities, including various specialty departments and intensive care units.

Located in Hamirpur, the Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College is 90 kilometers (56 miles) away from Shimla which makes it easily reachable from any part of the country. Furthermore, Hamirpur is well-connected to other major cities and towns in Himachal Pradesh by road. The distance between Hamirpur and Shimla can be covered in around 2-3 hours by road, depending on the traffic conditions.
