UTTAR PRADESH NEET MBBS COUNSELLING

The UTTAR PRADESH NEET MBBS COUNSELLING for Medical & Dental program is being conducted by The Director General of Medical Education commonly known as “UP-DGME”.

UTTAR PRADESH NEET MBBS COUNSELLING will be conducted for the 85% Government & 100% Private Medical & Dental seats. There are 3 rounds of counseling process which includes “Round 1”, “Round 2” both getting conducted online and the third round is “Mop up” round also called as spot round or physical round, which is conducted offline. If seats are vacant after mop up then college round will be conducted, also known as “Stray round”

To participate in the UTTAR PRADESH NEET MBBS COUNSELLING process, students have to qualify NEET exam and then register themselves by login to its official website www.updgme.in by paying Rs 2000 or as declared by the authority as and when counseling is about to commence.

SALIENT FEATURES OF UP COUNSELING

There is no free exit after allotment in any round of counseling of UP.
In order to claim free exit, students will have to submit allotment letter of seat allotted in some other State.
Security deposit is not refundable if not taken admission after allotment of seat.
Document verification will be done physically before the allotment of seat.
Security deposit will be forfeited if not reported to the college in Round 1, to reappear in Round 2 fresh security deposit will have to be submitted.
Choice locking is mandatory in every round without which student will not be considered at the time of allotment
Security deposit will be refunded to eligible candidates (Not allotted any seat or allotted seat and taken admission) after the completion of all the rounds of counseling process.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must qualify NEET with following percentile:

Must be Indian Citizen to claim seat under Govt./Private/Management.
Foreign National can also apply for seats under NRI/Other Quota.
Non-Domicile can only apply for Private Medical/Dental seats.

Students must have passed 12th or equivalent exams.

Government seat - Seat offered in the Government Medical/Dental colleges in Uttar Pradesh. (Only Domicile candidate can apply)
Private seat – Seat offered in the Private Medical/Dental colleges in Uttar Pradesh (Both domicile and non-domicile can apply)
Muslim Minority seat – These seats are reserved in the Muslim Minority Private Medical/Dental Colleges for the Muslim Minority students.
Jain Minority seat – These seats are reserved in the Jain Minority Private Medical/Dental Colleges for the Jain Minority students.

*There are no NRI seats available in the Medical/Dental colleges in Uttar Pradesh.

Steps Involved in the Counseling Process

Register online on www.updgme.in your login id and password will be created
Login using your ID and password, take print out of your online application by paying requisite application fee online.
Verify your document at the Nodal centre selected at the time of online application.
Submit DD of Security Deposit at the Nodal centre during document verification.
Fill your choices online
Final result will be declared
Report to Nodal centre with DD of Tuition fee.
You can either stay with your allotted college or else can go for the up gradation of college in Round 2.
Those who have registered in Round 1 need not register again in Round 2.
For Mop up everyone has to apply including previously applied students who did not get a seat.

Choice after Allotment of Seat

Option 1 – If you are satisfied with your allotment, you can report at Nodal centre and further to your allotted college.
Option 2 – You are satisfied but willing to go for up gradation in next round by retaining your seat, you can do fresh choice filling in Round 2.
Option 3 - If you are not satisfied with your allotted college and willing to participate in next round, then you will have to resubmit security deposit at the Nodal centre and attend Round 2. In this case your previously submitted DD of the Security Deposit will be forfeited.

FEE STRUCTURE

MBBS fee in Private colleges of UP has differential fee structure. It varies from one college to another. Till 2018 there were no regulations on the fees and other charges charged by the Private Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh. But in 2019 Government brought some guideline and in 2020 it further put a cap on Tuition fee, Hostel fee, Mess charges and Security Money charged by the non-minority Private Medical Colleges. This brought some cheers among Medical aspirant as it helped them from paying hefty other charges to the college.

We have noticed a steep rise in the demand for the Private Medical colleges of UP in the year 2020. One of the major reasons of such shift was due to the enforcement of new guidelines by the DGME to regulate fee structure and other charges in the Private Medical Colleges in the State.

Due to addition of 2 new Private Medical College and 3 colleges got the permission to admit students which were banned earlier 750 new MBBS seats got added. Hence, more number of students got an opportunity to study Medicine in UP. We also observed cut off went up from Round 1 to Round 2. Due to lesser number seats surrendered in Round 1 it became difficult for the students to get an up gradation in Round 2.

NEET 2020 cut off for Government College was bit higher than 2019. Also Uttar Pradesh NEET cut off 2020 for Private Medical colleges have gone up, students with higher rank chose to stay with UP as their preferred option.

Q1. Can we verify documents online?

Ans – UP conducts it offline.

Q2. Can I participate in the Mop up round if I don’t apply in Round 1 or Round 2?

Ans – Yes you can participate directly in the mop up round provided seats are vacant.

Q3. Can I rearrange my choice filled in round 1 in round 2?

Ans – Yes you can rearrange choices filled in round 1.

Q4. Can I directly participate in round 2 or mop up round?

Ans – Yes you can participate as fresh application will open before every round.

Q5. Can I skip round 1 after form filling?

Ans – No you can’t skip, you will have to do the choice filling, without which you are not eligible to participate in further rounds of counseling.

Q6. When will I get my security money paid during document verification?

Ans – It will be refunded after Round 2 of counseling for those who didn’t get a seat. Those who joined after allotment will get the refund after completion of all the rounds of counseling.

Ans. – It was 128711 rank in GMC Basti.

Q8. – Is there any limitation on number of colleges to be filled in choice filling?

Ans – No you can enter as many you want, be careful while to verify fee while entering college, as every college has different fee for type of seats.
