HIMACHAL PRADESH NEET M.B.B.S Counseling
The counseling for Medical & Dental undergraduate program in Himachal Pradesh is being conducted by “Himachal Pradesh University on behalf of Department of Medical Education. Counseling will be conducted for 85% Government & 100% Private Medical & Dental seats on the basis of Marks obtained in NEET UG Examination conducted by NTA.
There are 3 rounds of counseling process which includes “Round 1” “Round 2” and the third round is “Mop up” round all three gets conducted online. If seats are vacant after mop up then college round will be conducted, also known as “Stray round”
There are 6 Government, 1 Private and 1 AIIMS (to be filled through MCC) in Himachal Pradesh. This offers 762 State quota MBBS seat (Excluding 15% AIQ seat). Seat Allotment for AIIMS will be done through centralized counseling process conducted by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).

SALIENT FEATURES OF HIMACHAL PRADESH COUNSELING
- Registration opens before every round of counseling in Himachal Pradesh.
- All three rounds are online.
- Security deposit is applicable in round 2 of Himachal Pradesh NEET UG counseling.
- There is no free exit in round 2.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA IN HIMACHAL PRADESH COUNSELING
- Students must qualify NEET
- Must be Indian Citizen to claim seat under Govt./Private/Management.
- Foreign National can also apply for seats under NRI/Other Quota.
- Non-Domicile can only apply for Management quota seat in Private Medical College in Himachal Pradesh.
- Students must have passed 12th or equivalent exams.
Eligibility Criteria for Domicile Claim
1- The children of bonafide resident of Himachal Pradesh, who have passed 10+2 from the recognized schools or colleges situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh and affiliated to ICSE/CBSE/HPBOSE or equivalent Boards/Universities established by law in India.
or
2- The children of parents who are not bonafide Himachalis and who are Central Government employees or employees working within the State of Himachal Pradesh or Serving Judges of the Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh or Regular employees of Himachal Pradesh Government/H.P. Government Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies wholly owned by Himachal Pradesh Government shall be eligible for admissions in State Quota seats subject to fulfillment of following conditions:-
- The employee should be working for a period of continuous two years within the State of Himachal Pradesh in preceding four years on or before 1st January of the year of passing 10+2 examinations and ;
- His or her child should have passed 10+1 (or equivalent and 10+2 (or equivalent) from the recognized schools or colleges situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh and affiliated to ICSE/CBSE/HPBOSE or equivalent Boards/Universities established by law in India.
- Children of regular employees of Himachal Pradesh Government/H.P. Government Undertakings/Autonomous bodies wholly owned by Himachal Pradesh Government shall be exempted from the schooling condition for eligibility for State Quota seats subject to the fulfillment of following criteria:-
- Such employees have been holding posts outside Himachal Pradesh on or before 1st January of the year of passing 10+2 examinations for at least a continuous period of three years.
3- The children of bonafide Himachalis who are working with the Central Government/Undertakings or Autonomous bodies established by the Central Government shall be exempted from the schooling criteria to gain eligibility for admissions under State Quota Seats.
Provided that such employees should be working/posted outside the State of Himachal Pradesh on or before 1st January of the year of passing 10+2 (or its equivalent) for at least a continuous period of three years.
4- The children of bonafide Himachalis who are working outside the State of Himachal Pradesh with other State Governments/Undertakings of Autonomous bodies established by other State Governments shall be eligible for State Quota Seats in the State of Himachal Pradesh provided that their child is not eligible for the State Quota in the State where their parents work and a certificate to this effect duly issued and certified by the Director Medical Education of that State for the relevant academic year shall be required to be submitted.
5- The children of bonafide Himachalis who are serving in Indian Defence Services/ Ex-Serviceman/Para Military Forces shall be unconditionally exempted from the schooling criteria to gain eligibility for admissions under State Quota seats.

Steps Involved in the Counseling Process
- Register online on https://hp.online-counselling.co.in/ by paying Rs 2000 for General/NRI and other categories, Rs 1000 for SC/ST/PwD application fee online.
- Upload your documents, photo and signature.
- Login using your ID and password, take print out of your online filled application.
- Fill your choices online.
- Merit list will be published.
- Correction window will open.
- Provisional allotment of seat.
- Report and verify your original documents.
- Deposition of tuition fee.
- Round 1 registered student need not apply again for round 2.
Choice after Allotment of Seat
- Option 1 – If you are satisfied with your allotment, you can report and verify your document at your allotted college.
- Option 2 – You are satisfied but willing to go for up gradation in the next round by retaining your seat. You can report to your allotted college and submit your willingness online to participate in round 2 or mop up.
- Option 3 – If you are not satisfied with your allotted college and willing to participate in the next round, then you can skip reporting in round 1 and submit your willingness to participate in round 2.
