NEET PG 2024 Normalisation Process

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that the NEET PG 2024 results will be determined using a normalization process. This method is similar to the one used by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

For NEET PG 2024, the exam was held in two shifts on 11th August 2024. The first shift was from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and the second shift was from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

On 10th August 2024, the National Board of Medical Examination clarified the normalization process after the Supreme Court rejected requests to postpone the exam. This normalization process will ensure that scores from different shifts are adjusted to maintain fairness, given that the difficulty level might vary between the shifts. This adjustment helps to accurately compare the performance of candidates who took the exam at different times.

What is normalization in NEET PG?

NEET PG Normalization is a vital process that ensures fairness by standardizing the evaluation of candidates across different exam shifts. Since the NEET PG Exam is conducted in multiple sessions with varying difficulty levels, NEET PG Normalization Process adjusts scores to provide a level playing field.

In this process, the highest score in each shift is assigned a 100 percentile, setting a benchmark for other candidates in that shift. The final merit list and rankings are based on these percentile scores, which are calculated to seven decimal places to minimize ties. In case of a tie, preference is given to the older candidate, ensuring precise and fair differentiation among candidates.
